French band MAGMA have always been about escapism. Formed back in 1969, the collective led by drummer Christian Vander, related the stories of humans living on planet Kobaïa and sang in their own language. And it’s in live environment, sans studio trickery, that the group amaze the most.
Their shows are preserved for posterity on several DVDs, and now there’s another one to be out, titled “EPOK V” to continue the string of previous “EPOKs” in the “Mythes et Legendes” series.
Alongside classic tracks from the ’70s, the new release features a piece from MAGMA’s latest album, 2012’s “Felicite Thosz”. A nice addition to the collections of those who like their jazz proggy and their prog jazzed-up.
