Quite underestimated player, Ray Manzarek‘s contribution to THE DOORS‘ sound was immense. It was his keyboards that gave the signature melody to “Light My Fire” and the buzz to the likes of “Hello, I Love You”. Together with guitarist Robby Krieger, Manzarek continued to carry on the legacy of the band he was a co-founder with for many years and did so almost until his last day, which came, sadly, on May 20th, 2013. Ray was 74.
Ray Manzarek will be sorely missed. Light a fire for the man today.
