ASH RA TEMPEL: A Document Of Unusual Experience

ASH RA TEMPEL has always been a unique proposition – unusual for Krautrock scene they’re associated with, let alone traditional rock. But, unlike many experimentalists, Manuel Göttsching and his colleagues weren’t strangers to concert performances even after the band ceased to exist, resurrecting its name once in a while – 2000’s "Gin Rose" that saw the guitarist reunited with Klaus Schulze testifies to that. Still, no one expected the appearance of ASH RA TEMPEL EXPERIENCE at Australian “Supersense” festival in 2015 where the veteran guitarist introduces Ariel Pink as bassist and singer, Oren Ambarchi on drums and Shags Chamberlain on keyboards to the ensemble – and the public. This is when “Live In Melbourne” album was recorded, to be out on September 29th.

The album features a run-through ASHRA’s 1972 classic “Schwingungen” as well as a medley of the first side of 1973’s “Seven Up” which was the group’s collaboration with Timothy Leary. Must be mindboggling. All in all, it looks like this:

1. Look At Your Sun
2. Flowers Must Die
3. Medley:
    Downtown
    Power Drive
    Right Hand Lover
    Velvet Genes
4. Schwingungen
