When it comes to planning ahead, for the last four decades Brian Setzer has always had more than a single route to pursue: if the guitarist couldn’t persuade his STRAY CATS colleagues to get together as they did on “40” back in 2019, he could corral the musicians of THE BRIAN SETZER ORCHESTRA whose 2015’s “Rockin’ Rudolph” didn’t see a follow-up yet – and, of course, he could go solo again. The veteran chose the last option on “Gotta Have The Rumble” in 2021 and stuck to the in the same comfortable rut until now, preparing to rock it once more on September 15th.
This is the date when Setzer’s eleventh album under his own name will see the light of day, titled “The Devil Always Collects” and featuring eleven incendiary cuts, including such standout tracks as “A Dude’ll Do (What A Dude’ll Do)” and “Girl On The Billboard” as well as opener “Rock Boys Rock” and the titular number, all demonstrating Brian’s usual sense of humor with a new twist… and a fresh shout. Nothing too original, as that’s not the rockabilly way, yet highly entertaining nevertheless.
