It didn’t seem possible to see Geoff Downes form another creative partnership on par with one which he and the late John Wetton used to enjoy, yet it’s been a bit more than a decade since the esteemed ivories driver first ventured into a collaboration with pop-hitmaker Chris Braide and the two set on a course that will find DBA release their fifth studio opus in a few months.
Scheduled for September 8th, the record – which is to be issued on CD and LP as well as a deluxe box set with both formats in it – bears the title “Celestial Songs” and, thus, follows the alliterate example of the preceding albums, 2017’s "Skyscraper Souls" and "Halcyon Hymns" from 2021. Of course, the platter continues its predecessors’ lines in terms of music too, being, in its writers’ words, more classically inclined than what came before, and the inaugural single “Clear Light” (listen to the piece below) suggests just that.
