Young as he is, Eli Cook knows his way with the blues, having navigating through them over the course of four albums. But Eli’s newest one, out on April 29th, is set to promote the guitarist to the upper echelons of his chosen genre’s players. “Primitive Son” sees Cook welcome onboard a string of famous instrumentalists, including such luminaries as Vinny Appice and Pat Travers as well as members of LYNYRD SKYNYRD, DOUBLE TROUBLE and GOV’T MULE, plus Sonny Landreth and Leslie West, so there’s a nice balance between Southern and Northern strains of it. The Virginian stands his own ground there, though, with a nice poise, and his real breakthrough is just around the bend.
