Over the years, there’ve been a few albums released by the BUGGLES, YES and ASIA keyboard wiz Geoff Downes under the NEW DANCE ORCHESTRA moniker, such as "Vox Humana" from 1992. The latest one, “Electronica,” was out in 2010 but was extremely limited and receives its proper release only now. It’s a special one in that it doesn’t bear Downes’ name on the cover and features a great singer on the grooves: Anne-Marie Helder who rose to prominence with MOSTLY AUTUMN fame and now fronts PANIC ROOM that have just wrapped up the recording of “Incarnate,” a next-year follow-up to 2012’s brilliant "Skin".
In Geoff’s words, “The concept of the NEW DANCE ORCHESTRA is to create entirely ‘virtual’ orchestrations, utilizing a variety of musical instruments made up from computerized technology and other various audio resources. ‘Electronica’ is the result of a collection of carefully crafted songs using these orchestral treatments on each individual track in different ways.” More so, it’s highly danceable as well as intellectual – read the review here.
