Intrepid teapot-travelers aren’t ones to let something stop their trip, and while Daevid Allen heroically battles cancer, he and his fellow gnomes recorded a new album. Out now, GONG‘s “I See You” is as wonderfully weird as ever, a spoken word missive “This Revolution” carrying further another free spirit Gil Scott-Heron’s message, and “Pixielation” picking up the familiar small-folk theme. Some of it will be taken on-stage, once Allen’s fit enough to deliver, yet the studio confection seems to be on par with the band’s ’70s classics.
