Although the second half of HAWKWIND‘s halcyon decade might seem less impressive than its decade, when such solid-gold classics as "Warrior On The Edge Of Time" saw the light day, in reality the advent of punk and new wave scenes added fresh aspects to the British ensemble’s creativity, and even introduced a different incarnation of the band, HAWKLORDS to their lore. The only one – then, in 1978 – album, released under that guise, for legal reasons was – album “25 Years On”was bookended by two other, issued under the regular name, 1977’s “Quark, Strangeness And Charm” and “PXR5” from 1979, which proved to be successful enough and dear enough to fans’ hearts to get remixed recently by Steven Wilson and form a core of a massive box set.
Penciled in to hit the shelves on March 31st, the collection titled “Days Of The Underground – The Studio & Live Recordings 1977-1979″ is comprised of ten discs – eight CDs and two Blu-rays – on which the aforementioned platters are augmented with a generous dose of bonus cuts, including demos and alternative versions, as well as plenty of onstage numbers. Needless to say, a lot of these reaches have never been out officially, so there’s a lot to love and delve into time after time.
