Next months are going to be busy and celebratory for all the LITTLE FEAT followers. While they have been gearing up and saving up to get a hold of two releases planned for May 17th, the band’s new studio platter and a tribute to Lowell George, a deluxe variant of the ensemble’s classic fourth longplay was scheduled for June 14th. Unlike the expanded editions of its predecessors “Sailin’ Shoes” and “Dixie Chicken” which marked the beginning of the group’s reissue programme in 2023, this version of “Feats Don’t Fail Me Now” is to be out not on two but on three discs.
Yet then, unlike its predecessors, the 1974 album was the American collective’s first comprised solely of original material and first to dent the charts – the descent made easier by the success of the previous year’s perennial-to-be “Fat Man In The Bathtub” that became a concert staple right away. As much is suggested by the song’s appearance on this edition’s thirds CD, a document of the band’s 1975 performance in France. There, the number rubs shoulders with no less than half of “Feats” – including such delights as “Oh Atlanta” and “Rock And Roll Doctor” which are available on the first two CDs too, as part of the freshly remastered record and a collections of alternative takes and outtakes. Deluxe, indeed.
