Many people found it difficult to love the glum world of Lou Reed, but nobody can deny his imprint on the whole world of popular music… if only the word “popular”can describe what Lou did be it with VELVET UNDERGROUND, solo – with the participation of such diverse artists as David Bowie and Steve Howe – or, lately, with METALLICA.
Without Reed, even Andy Warhol’s world could have been shaped, or colored, differently; the same goes for the world of John Cale. He was a singular talent, that rock ‘n’ roll animal, and if not for illness, there could have been more dark pleasures. R.I.P., Reed.
