“Rock ‘n’ roll assassin”: that’s how Michael Des Barres calls himself. Last year saw the man many know as a brilliant actor reinstate his musical stand with "Carnaby Street", the beautiful album that brought its maker a Grammy nomination. The marquis didn’t get his gong which didn’t blow him off stage, and tomorrow will see the release of a concert document called “Hot N’ Sticky Live” that merges Des Barres’ present with his past.
Hardly a full show, the album represents the “Carnaby Street” material as well as an array of soul classics, a T.REX tune and a track Michael cut in the ’70s with DETECTIVE. Recording everything he plays now could have resulted in a longer set, yet that would take off the steam that’s there in the grooves. Read the review here.
