It can become a seasonal thing for Des Barres who follows his Xmas single "Rock 'N' Roll Santa" with this Valentine’s Day offering, but “The Key Of Love” is a song for all seasons, as is the emotion it’s about, and tagging it as a bonus to a new edition of "Carnaby Street", Michael’s comeback album, is fully justified.
Wording it as simple as it gets when it concerns intimacy, the veteran delivers a tight-but-loose rhythm-and-blues ballad that also pays tribute to Sam Cooke and Steve Marriott, so it oozes eroticism in the most elegant way – in the crossfire of sax and acoustic strum over electric web and female backing.
A bit generic, perhaps, yet catchy as a love bug: an adorable thing.
