It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that all the modern sound production owes a debt to George Martin, the man who passed away, aged 90, on March 8th. Having worked with so many different artists, including Elton John, STACKRIDGE and UFO, his most glorious moments were with THE BEATLES – or perhaps, vice versa, because, without Martin, the Fab Four’s talent couldn’t have found proper realization. It was George’s expertise – in the studio and in classical culture – that helped them, and him, fashion and apply new techniques of recording, come up with great arrangement ideas and shape popular music along the way. No more words needed: Sir George Martin was a genius. Rest In Peace.
