Rock ‘N’ Growl 2017
Molten blues to petrify you: American metal debutants claim a hefty stake at staying firm.
There’s a hard veneer to this quintet, but their crust bends and breaks under the bluesy crunch of “Cold As Stone” that’s but a sample of flavors the band’s first album should bring. Building from acoustic strum and cymbals’ rustle to a powerful riff, the piece is a ballad of sorts, though not a lachrymose one, as Jason Longo’s voice and Jeff Fahy’s guitar push it to the jagged edge of desperation, while the overall dynamics are what’s keeping the song afloat on a boiling sludge. There’s rage and also… yes, solace in there, able to melt any stone. An impressive start.
