This year has seen a new album, “Wolflight,” from Steve Hackett but that’s not the only delight the fantastic guitarist prepared for 2015. A reissue of his 2008’s “Tribute” that’s just out, augmented with a fresh track, “Through The Trees” – Steve’s original, not a Bach piece, like most of the record’s tracks – might be a minor release. Yet the same can’t be said of “Premonitions: The Charisma Years,” a 14-disc box set scheduled for October. Covering the period from 1975, when Hackett went solo, to 1983, when he left the titular label, it’s to include the artist’s first six LPs, newly remastered, with bonuses, previously unreleased concert tapes, and DVDs with 5.1 mixes of the first four albums prepared by Steven Wilson. "Please Don't Touch" and "Spectral Mornings" come from multitracks that were missing in the case of "Voyage Of The Acolyte" and "Defector" so these had to be worked up from the stereo masters, while "Cured" and "Highly Strung" will be presented in new stereo mixes, too.
There’s a lot to enjoy, even though some albums will come split over two discs which may mar the concept impression, but anyway that’s what inside the box… But, more so, there’s a new exclusive interview with Steve.
