Over the last decade, the name of Roky Erikson became legendary, and the music of his band, THE 13TH FLOOR ELEVATORS, broke out of the cult status into the mass market. But even though Roky has been appearing on-stage in an on and off mode, wholly depending on his health and mental state, no one would dare betting on the group’s reunion. Yet this year marks their 50th anniversary, and the veterans announced their return, albeit brief, into the fray – for the first time in the original line-up, minus the deceases ones, since April 1968. guitarist Erikson, jug player Tommy Hall, bassist Ronnie Leatherman and drummer John Ike Walton are to perform at Levitation Festival in Austin, in May. Hopefully, everything will go according to plan and there will be a live document of the ELEVATORS’ show.
