Rick Wakeman has been playing David Bowie’s “Life On Mars” – the piece he originally recorded a piano part for – for years, but now the grand weird ballad has become a tribute to its writer. Most people’s, not fans’, perception of Rick’s performance has changed after his rendition of this classic on Simon Mayo’s BBC show, so Wakeman decided to take it further and cut the song – together with “Space Oddity” which he originally adorned with Mellotron – for a single and donate all profits from it to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Out digitally since January 22nd, the CD release is scheduled for February 12th. Just cause.
