Yusuf Islam, aka Cat Stevens, is quite partial to having a star guest on his record, what with Peter Gabriel adding flute to 1970’s “Mona Bone Jakon” or Paul McCartney singing on 2009’s “Roadsinger,” Yusuf’s latest album. For its follow-up it seems former Cat secured the participation of Rick Rubin, an acclaimed metal producer who worked with the likes of METALLICA and, most recently, BLACK SABBATH, but also played a crucial role in the revival of Johnny Cash and Neil Diamond’s careers. One more prominent master who’s to be there is the greatest British folk-rock guitarist Richard Thompson.
That’s about everything revealed to the moment by Islam, save for the picture of the three of them in the studio which he posted on his Facebook page.
