Gary Numan has always stood out against other electronic rock artists in terms of using real musicians and natural instruments on his platters and onstage. It’s logical, but also staggering, then, that his discography includes so many concert albums, from 1979’s “Living Ornaments” to “A Perfect Circle” which saw the light of day in July 2025. The latter documented the veteran’s performance at Wembley in 2022, yet on April 15th, 2023 Gary played his thousandth show, so again, it’s logical but also staggering to find there will be a new Numan recording, done in London, released rather soon.
Still, preserving his Camden outing for posterity seemed like a no-brainer, and the appearance of “1,000: Live At The Electric Ballroom” on November 7th should meet with most of his fans’ approval. Of course, there’s a great deal of overlapping material between this two-CD (or three-LP) plus Blu-ray set and its predecessor that had the same format, yet with tracks like “Exile” which the singer last time delivered back in 2002 one should not complain.
