“Weird electronic music”: that’s how Tony Banks described, in an interview which will soon be published on this site, Rupert Hine‘s score to “The Shout” – the Jerzy Skolimowski-directed 1978 film based on a short story by Robert Graves. Tony and his colleague Mike Rutherford contributed to the soundtrack too, and it was their pieces most of the listeners concentrated on, while Rupert’s sonic experimentalism remained overlooked for decades – but not anymore.
Restored and reissued now, the OST doesn’t feature GENESIS members anymore and takes the late great composer’s writing and performances to the fore, thus finally plugging the gap in Rupert Hine’s discography. About time!
