With his recent appearances on tour with FOREIGNER, and the ensemble’s belated joining the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, there’s no time like now for Lou Gramm to prepare a new solo album, something the singer first hinted at as far back as 2019. Lou has two platters to his name, 1987’s “Ready Or Not” and “Long Hard Look” from 1989, and there was an eponymous offering from THE LOU GRAMM BAND in 2009, but “Released” – which will see the light of day on March 20th – is credited to Gramm as an individual.
Just like all Lou’s previous longplays, it features ten numbers – although “True Blue Love” that’s acoustic here originally appeared on his sophomore opus – yet quite a few of those stand out, because they were co-penned by Gramm’s BLACK SHEEP colleague Bruce Turgon, with “Long Gone” anchored by current bend member Tony Franklin‘s bass, and “Young Love” elevated by Vivian Campbell’s guitar. The album’s cover might be a bit misleading, however, as the veteran is pictured as a much younger buck there than the one who’s going to go on the road next year to promote this record.
