Alex Skolnick has come a long way since his days as a precocious heavy metal star and embraced quite a few styles and genres, the guitarist’s most daring endeavor being playing avant-garde strain of jazz in the company of contrabassist Nathan Peck and drummer Matt Zebroski. In a little more than two decades, this ensemble recorded five studio albums that include both covers and original material, and their sixth, a successor to “Conundrum” from 2018, is about to be out too.
Hitting the shelves on December 19th, ALEX SKOLNICK TRIO‘s “Prove You’re Not A Robot” focuses on the human factor of our existence and contains, alongside the band’s own compositions a cover of Tom Petty’s “Breakdown” and a mash-up of Steve Howe and Chick Corea’s tunes, titled “Armando’s Mood” and adding humor to the players’ mix of emotions.
