The fact that Barbra Streisand can still, after decades of starring on stage and in studio, surprise her listeners is surprising in itself, yet even those who stopped following the updates of her fantastic will be stunned to hear the singer’s forthcoming album. A successor of her 2014’s “Partners” which found Babs’ emote in the company of Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie and Billy Joel, as well as artists of lesser stature, “The Secret Of Life: Partners, Volume 2” – the platter hitting the shelves on June 27th – is where the chanteuse teams up with even greater performers, Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan.
The former of them joins Streisand on the cover of his own “My Valentine” and the latter on “The Very Thought Of You” which became a standard after Nat King Cole recorded it, but there are more stellar guests, such as Sting whom Barbra engaged in doing “Fragile” and James Taylor whose vocals are heard on “Secret O’ Life” which his hostess infused with deeper emotions. Of course, a lot of people should focus on “One Heart, One Voice” where Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande join in, yet surely it’s the veterans that make “The Secret Of Life” special.
