While getting into gear for the TEMPLE OF THE DOG reunion shows, Chris Cornell found the time to write and record an end-title song “The Promise” for an eponymous Terry George that stars Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac. A drama based on the events of Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire, the film demanded a suitable music, and Cornell delivered a great piece, with a strings arrangement by Paul Buckmaster, a master of the mood on classical records such as Elton John’s. A snippet of the session can be found here.
