An important part of Irish music history, Eric Bell remains rather underestimated as a solo artist and, such strong personal statements as "Exile" notwithstanding, the guitarist will eternally be associated with the ensemble he helped found. Bell’s latest resurgence was difficult to like, the veteran adding fresh instrumentation to classic THIN LIZZY numbers to produce "Acoustic Sessions" which didn’t succeed in restoring the past. Still, it was this experience that possibly inspired Eric to write a series of pieces about his musical journey.
A successor to “Standing At A Bus Stop” from 2017, the platter titled “Authenticity” and wrapped in a criminally unimpressive artwork will be issued on May 2nd. It promises to present quite a few interesting numbers, including “I Wasn’t Born In The Delta” and “Tales Of Thin Lizzy” which are the most overt pointers to the album’s autobiographical slant – something that 1998’s "Irish Boy" didn’t quite achieve.
