“The Restless One” can be the most appropriate characteristic of Eric Bibb: since his return to active recording in 1997 the American master has released about two dozen albums, with the longest gap between two neighboring entries in his discography not exceeding three years, and there’s no sign of the 73-year-old’s intent to slow down. And now, rather hot on the heels of the Grammy-nominated “Ridin'” from 2023 comes another platter – recorded at, of all places, Peter Gabriel’s legendary Real World Studios, a perfect environment for the veteran bluesman’s introspective effort.
Titled, accordingly, “The Real World” and penciled in for October 18th release, it features not only Eric’s HELD BY TREES colleague Robbie McIntosh on guitar but also Lily James, better known as actress than a powerful vocalist, and contains such invigorating cuts as “Make A Change” and “Judgement Day” to propel Bibb’s message to eternity. Exciting.
