Building on the success of 1979’s “Tusk” and the live album from the following year, FLEETWOOD MAC waltzed into the ’80s well-rested and encouraged by public acceptance of Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham’s solo debuts, so it was but a little wonder that 1982’s “Mirage” shot up the charts around the world. Two months after this platter’s release, on September 1st, the ensemble started their two-month-long American tour, with two nights at Inglewood’s “The Forum” preserved for posterity. Over the years, most of the tracks played on those dates appeared as bonus tracks on various deluxe editions and on the “Mirage Live” video from 1983, but a double-CD, or triple-LP, set scheduled for September 20th will finally present the entire show, culled from both concerts, in the original running order.
“Mirage Tour ’82” includes six previously unissued cuts that complement other pieces from the collective’s glorious past, yet there’s no unheard performances of the “Mirage” classics on this fantastic entry into the band’s discography. To listen to it all as it was delivered there and then should be a treat anyway.
