Perhaps, it is due to the fact that this collective issued their concert album only on a limited-edition double-vinyl and as a download, omitting – hopefully, temporarily – a CD version that the recent release of the “Lust For Live” album went largely unnoticed by the masses. Or maybe it is due to the fact that the ensemble convened by SEX PISTOLS’ bassist Glen Matlock and BLONDIE drummer Clem Burke with Katie Puckrik on vocals and guitarist Kevin Armstrong who played with David Bowie and Iggy Pop in order to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the latter’s “Lust For Life” during a series of shows in early 2023 didn’t get as much attention as GENERATION SEX whose ranks included a pair of ex-PISTOLS and a pair of GENERATION X members. Yet LUST FOR LIFE BAND‘s LP cannot be ignored.
Preserved for eternity at “The Lexington” in London on March 11th and 12th of last year, the record features Iggy’s classic in its entirety as well as a selection of songs from Pop’s platters – solo and THE STOOGES ones – with cuts by Matlock and Burke’s main groups thrown in for good measure alongside a Bowie number. An alluring offering.
