He was a sweet, sweet man, Huw Lloyd-Langton, whom I used to to be in touch for a couple of years before the British guitarist untimely passed away in 2010, and he was a fine, fine guitarist. Mostly known for his playing on HAWKWIND records at various times, laying down tasty lines on their 1970 debut and bolstering their fantasy on "The Chronicle Of The Black Sword" among contributions to their other albums, Huw also played alongside Steve Ellis in WIDOWMAKER and took part in different projects, all the while fronting THE LLOYD-LANGTON GROUP and releasing an occasional solo LP. Following the veteran’s labyrinthine endeavors can be difficult, then, which is why his “Anthology” – available now on Cleopatra – is so welcome.
The 7CD box set includes practically everything the master committed to tape under his own name, and more, except for "Classical Guitar Tales" from 2011, but rarities should somewhat compensate for it. A fabulous tribute to a fabulous artist.
