Jan Schelhaas Releases A Single With Andy Latimer

Woven into the very fabric of English progressive rock from the very beginning, Jan Schelhaas first came to prominence as part of NATIONAL HEAD BAND, alongside Lee Kerslake, and later became part of CARAVAN – after a stint there in the ’70s, he returned to the fold in 2002 and has been playing in this band ever since – and CAMEL. There were also solo albums from the keyboardist, but it took him seven years to follow 2018’s “Ghosts Of Eden” with new music.

JAN SCHELHAAS –
The Beautiful Young

A few days ago, the veteran released a fresh track, titled “The Beautiful Young” and made available via Bandcamp, which features – on guitar, bass, drums and backing vocals – his former CAMEL colleague Andy Latimer. How did this piece come about?

“This piece was one of a batch of several that I had written over the last year or two,” says Jan. “Andy and I have been batting it back and forth for some time now, mixing it through several incarnations but needing at last to get it out there given that hope and optimism seem to be in short supply and quickly running out in the face of the increasingly depressing world events.”

A wonderful song that could be a start of an entire album if Schelhaas wanted to.
