Janis Ian’s 2004 Concert Prepared To See The Light Of Day

2025 shapes up to become a Janis Ian year. With the "Breaking Silence" documentary gathering accolades all around the world, one would expect the venerated singer-songwriter to deliver a fresh studio platter, yet while a follow-up to 2022’s “The Light At The End Of The Line” might indeed be in the pipeline, Janis’ fans must rejoice at the news of her archival performance getting prepared for release. Recorded in Germany for radio transmission, “From Me To You: Live In Bremen 2004” will reach Ian’s audience on May 30th.

It’s a unique stage document, because apart from well-expected classics “Society’s Child” and “At Seventeen” as well as deeper cuts, this album contains a lot of the veteran’s monologue, interspersing songs, yet what’s special about it is the fact that, as Janis stresses, her last live “full show” release was 1978’s “Remember…” whereas the rest of Ian’s concert reports apparently comprised only parts of her outings on a particular night.
