Joan Osborne Releases Concert Album Of Dylan Perennials

It’s been eight years since Joan Osborne, whose “One Of Us” used to charm audiences three decades ago, issued her tribute to the bard of Duluth, but it took the chanteuse some time to bring “Songs Of Bob Dylan” to the stage and compile an entire album of those pieces from concert recordings. Still, April 25th will see the release of “Dylanology Live” where quite a few surprises lurk amidst rather expected numbers.

Not that the inclusion of Bob’s latter-day classic “High Water (For Charley Patton)” on Joan’s 2017 platter was expected, yet while its re-emergence here could be predictable, the appearance of “Ballad Of Hollis Brown” and “Tonight I’ll Be Staying Here With You” which weren’t on there is most welcome. With special guests Amy Helm, Robert Randolph and Jackie Greene, this set seems riveting, if slightly too short.

1. Spanish Harlem Incident
2. Highway 61 Revisited
3. Rainy Day Woman #12 and #35
4. Ballad Of Hollis Brown
5. Buckets Of Rain
6. Masters Of War
7. Tonight I’ll Be Staying Here With You
8. High Water (For Charley Patton)
