Sole Album Of Keith West’s MOONRIDER Sees Expanded Reissue

October 20, 2025

Nowadays, supergroups – bands whose members have created a name for themselves elsewhere – crop up at an overwhelming rate and, more often than not, appear faceless. It was different fifty years ago, when such collectives were rare and distinctive, if not necessary successful, as proven by the story of MOONRIDER. A quartet of TOMORROW singer Keith West, guitarist John Weider of THE ANIMALS, FAMILY and STUD fame, future THE ATTRACTIONS bassist Bruce Thomas, and drummer Chico Greenwood issued only one longplay in 1975 that, despite the strength of ten pieces on offer, flopped – and will reappear, with quite a few bonus tracks, on December 12th.

BEGGARS OPERA’s Martin Griffiths Offers Solo Debut

October 19, 2025

Drawing a lot of perennial attention thanks to their artwork and Vertigo affiliation, BEGGARS OPERA’s early albums – “Act One,” “Waters Of Change” and “Pathfinder” – are often unjustly overlooked as prog masterpieces. The British band might have served as a launch pad for one genuine star, guitarist Ricky Gardiner who would go on to work with David Bowie and Iggy Pop, but vocalist Martin Griffiths deserved accolades too. He left the fold after those three platters and went solo, issuing a string of singles in the late ’70s and one in 1981, only there never was a longplay credited to the singer – until now.

Tony Hadley Turns Up His Dreamy Elegance

October 18, 2025

Maybe it’s the suits that dictate certain artists’ penchant for overall suaveness, yet Tony Hadley embraced such elegance back in his SPANDAU BALLET days and, aging in style, the singer quite organically progressed to delivering old-time standards in a modern way. His 2024 album “The Mood I’m In” was a brilliant example of this, but “If I Can Dream” which will be issued on November 21st should add an interesting spin to the veteran’s formula.

TOKYO BLADE Cut Into Their Past On New Comp

October 16, 2025

There’s a great deal of nostalgia for original NWOBHM bands of whom only a few are still at it, including TOKYO BLADE, a band which rarely stopped and which can boast about having on board all five members of their 1984 line-up. As the veterans’ latest album, “Time Is The Fire” from last January proved, stopping is not an option anyway, but taking a glance over the ensemble’s shoulder never got in the way of creative development. That’s why the release of the collective’s box set on November 21st feels most welcome.

Bob Holz To Honor Larry Coryell On Archival Concert Album

October 16, 2025

When the great Larry Coryell left this mortal coil eight years ago, our world became much poorer, because the guitarist’s recordings oozed not only creative wonders but also his personality, which is why every new platter with the jazzman on attracts a lot of attention – even when it’s credited to somebody else. Drummer Bob Holz knew Larry well, as the two used to play together, the former usually backing the latter; however, a couple of concerts that happened in November 2015 found Coryell in a guest role, gracing the stage with Holz’s band A VISION FORWARD, and now the best pieces of those nights are ready for release.
