Phil Soussan may be mostly known for his stint with Ozzy Osbourne – one of the British-born, States-based bassist’s many gigs – that resulted in the smash that “Shot In The Dark” was, but there’s much more to the veteran’s relentless creativity. Last heard very recently on LAST IN LINE’s "A Day In The Life" EP – Soussan has been playing with DIO alumni since 2016 – Phil doesn’t forget to step once in a while on a solo path, and there’s a new single to illustrate this point.
Although the composer seemed to have left the personal route after his second solo album "No Protection" was released in 2011, with only a fresh version of the aforementioned hit issued in the same year to flesh our Soussan’s discography, the “Nobody’s Fool” single, out September 15th, shows that Phil is still able to deliver an infectiously heavy tune. Responsible for most of the instrument himself, the bassist decided to invited a couple of friends to add their touch to the song, his namesake Phil X from BON JOVI laying down the guitar lines and Les Warner, formerly of THE CULT, providing drums. So if the piece per se talks about its writer’s individuality, the camaraderie it projects should be tangible. What’s not to like?
