Eight years form a huge gap in an artist’s discography, especially when the artist in question is a septuagenarian, yet it makes their new album an event of sorts. Not that Steve Ellis is touting his latest platter so much, but still, “Baby Faced Assassin” that was issued last week – sadly, only on digital platforms, although there’s always a chance for a physical media variant – looks like a great follow-up to "Boom! Bang! Twang!" from 2018.

It’s said to feature new songs co-written with Paul Weller – only there’s a small catch: “Lonely No More” appeared on the aforementioned record, and “Just To Simplify” served as a bonus track on the “Finchley Boy” box set back in 2022. The other nine numbers look new, though, so there’s no reason not to investigate the offering.
1. Love Came Late
2. Just To Simplify
3. A Little Bit Of Heart
4. She Heals My Soul
5. Me And You
6. Kept The Faith
7. Perpectual

10. Lonely No More
11. True Love Will Find You In The End
