Up from the ashes of dysfunctional FAMILY back in 1973, STREETWALKERS were less idiosyncratic proposition that had Roger Chapman in a more traditional rocker mode. Not that the band’s music was less interesting, though, as the line-up featured not only the singer and Charlie Whitney on guitar, but also, trough their albums, an array of stellar players, including Bobby Tench and Nicko McBrain. Four of these studio LPs, plus a few live recordings, comprise the group’s whole output, which is only a part of “I’m Walking: The Complete Streetwalkers 1974-1977”, a 15-CD set scheduled for a December 11th release, in a limited run of only 1500 copies. There’s a lot to enjoy inside, as the concert portion, fleshing out the original albums, of it all is massive, with additional goodies making it a must-have item for the fans.
Coming with a certificate of authenticity signed by Chapman and Tench, the box contains a 92-page hardback book, a full-size replica of a poster for “Red Card,” a replica of 1976 tour programme, a replica of the “Vicious But Fair” skin transfer sheet and four album cover beer coasters. Yet, of course, it’s the music that matters most here.
