Tracy G Teams Up With Old Friend For Flamenco-Tinged Record

Mostly known for his work with DIO, Californian guitarist Tracy G has had quite an eventful career and recorded both in the company and other artists and solo, but the album he’s just released with a fellow six-stringer Gratz Arias might be one of the most emotional works in the veteran’s discography. Titled “El Mariachi Sexorcismo” and featuring a dozen fresh cuts, it’s an exquisitely woven acoustic, if often riff-driven, tapestry that finds the two trade blistering, tremulous licks full of Latin fire.

It’s not their first joint effort, as Gratz was one of guests on Tracy’s “Tarantula Ditch” platter back in 2019, yet the pair’s friendship runs deeper into their past.

“I have known Gratz since I was fifteen,” says seƱor Grijalva, aka G. “He’s a local guy, who always was good and I always loved this type of guitar playing, with touches of flamenco. We first played a gig together in 2008, which went over great. So now we got together again and wrote these twelve songs.”
