Let out in the open in 1973, WISHBONE ASH‘s “Live Dates” remains one of the most listened to and respected concert albums of rock era, summarizing the English ensemble’s impeccable initial run of four longplays, immortalizing the force of the quartet’s original line-up and setting a standard for the group to follow through the decades. Fifty years down the line, the collective has all the rightful reasons to celebrate such an achievement – and they do so in style.
While the band’s former bassist Martin Turner and his team currently tour with the 1973 repertoire, WISHBONE ASH still steered by Andy Powell went further than that and not only perform the classic album in its entirety but also preserved the show they played at “Daryl’s House” in Pawling, NY on July 22nd, 2022 for posterity. Titled simply “Live Dates Live” and prepared for release on CD and colored vinyl, the new recording will see the light of day on September 29th to present the ensemble’s legacy for fresh relishing – featuring familiar, if slightly updated, artwork.
