With the recent scandal about THE GUESS WHO name happily resolved in favor of Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings and the attention drawn before that to the former in the wake of a documentary and the find of his long-lost guitar, it’s hardly surprising that the latter sprang into action too. Cummings’ old fans didn’t even hope he’d ever follow 2008’s “Above The Ground” with another studio album, yet September 27th is the date when Burton’s fresh song-cycle “A Few Good Moments” will be made available for streaming and will see a CD release on November 15th, with vinyl versions slated to appear a bit further down the line.
As if to compensate such a long wait – 2012’s “Massey Hall” was a live record, after all, with no new music – Cummings filled his forthcoming platter with no less than 17 pieces, including a Jim Vallance co-write “Up To The Minute” that’s thematically linked to the title track, and a cover of “Shape I’m In” from ARC ANGELS’ repertoire. Must be good.
