His name might be less memorable than those of Waylon Jennings or Merle Haggard, yet the same can’t be said about Steve Young‘s songs, one of which, when covered by EAGLES, became a classic. However, there were much more to this outlaw country artist, who passed away in 2016 at the age of 73, than “Seven Bridges Road” – and it was the follow-up to the album of the same name that’s considered his best. And now 1975’s “Honky Tonk Man” is being turned into a box set.
This record’s expanded edition doesn’t bear the same title, though, as the 3CD set comprising the album with a bonus cut as well as a previously unissued concert document – presumably, from the same period – and a 40-page booklet with Young’s co-producers notes will be known as “Stars In The Southern Sky” and will hit the shelves on August 2nd for the masses to rediscover Steve’s talent.
