It felt like a big thrill among the relatively small circle of TRAPEZE aficionados back in 2023, when the first dive into the band’s cache of tapes brought forth quite a few pieces that had not landed, in any way, on any official release. Slow-forward one year after “Lost Tapes Vol. 1” was out, and Tom and Marcus Galley – respectively, the brother and son of the ensemble’s late leader, guitarist Mel – together with the group’s erstwhile manager Tony Perry prepared a second volume of rarities.
And this time, it’s indeed rarities, rather than artifacts, as “Lost Tapes Vol. 2” which will be out on November 15th consists for the most part of alternative takes on familiar tracks such as “Coast To Coast” that’s present here the ballad’s early version and “Homeland” that could only be heard on "Welcome To The Real World" in a concert variant. Whether there are just songs with Glenn Hughes and Mel Galley on vocals – including his last-ever recording “Live Fast, Die Laughing” – remains to be seen, yet with the packaging featuring exclusive photos by the esteemed Carl Dunn the prospect of investigating looks fabulous.
