A few years ago Devon Allman put his solo career on hold in order to work with other scions of his father’s primary ensemble, Duane Betts and Berry Duane, but now the time has come for the American musician to pick up where he left off with “Ride Or Die” in 2016 and serve up another strictly personal album. Harking back to Devon’s debut, “Turquoise” from 2013, his fourth platter, titled “Miami Moon” and scheduled for release on August 16th, six days after Allman will have turned 52 years of age, is to feature quite a few guests to further elevate the young veteran’s performances.
This time it’s not Luther Dickinson and Samantha Fish, though; this time, it’s much heavier artillery, namely George Porter Jr. and Ivan Neville, who accompany Devon on, respectively, bass and ivories. The results, judging by the record’s opening single – watch the video for “White Horse” below – are much more soulful than the material of Allman’s previous efforts.
1. White Horse
2. Incredible
3. You
4. Miami Moon
5. Sahara
6. Climb Aboard
7. Body Electric
8. Take Time To Taste It
9. You Gotta Make It Through The World
