Dolly Parton And Sammy Hagar Join Artimus Pyle To Honor LYNYRD SKYNYRD

The last man standing of the classic LYNYRD SKYNYRD line-up and the last one of those who survived the band’s plane crash in 1977, Artimus Pyle might not play for long in the resurrected ensemble, yet that doesn’t mean the drummer lost respect for his fallen friends or Ronnie Van Zant’s brilliant songwriting. That’s why the veteran recently laid down an entire album dedicated to the band’s classic repertoire – and called on their musician fans to voice the familiar pieces.

The devil’s dozen cuts of a record titled “Anthems” that’s scheduled for release on February 2nd, 2004 feature such much-admired vocalists as Sammy Hagar, Ronnie Dunn and Warren Haynes alongside Dolly Parton who’s take on “Free Bird” seems to be the same as on her forthcoming “Rockstar” album which will be out on November 17th because this version has Ronnie’s pipes on it. Must be interesting nevertheless.
