FOGHAT Remember Fallen Brethren On New Single

Delivering delights on a large scale is what FOGHAT have been doing for decades, and the foursome’s last album "Sonic Mojo" was another demonstration of the ensemble’s relevance and vitality. Still driven by Roger Earl and featuring two fine guitarists, Bryan Bassett and Scott Holt, plus bassist O’Quinn, the group didn’t stop there, though, and prepared a new single for release on November 29th. Bearing a fresh piece on its A-side, “On Tonsils And Sneakers” is bound to be very special as it’s dedicated to the sadly departed former band members, Lonesome Dave Peverett and Rod Price.

“In the Eighties I met Lonesome Dave in Florida,” explains Bassett. “He had just relocated to the States from England. I was working as an engineer for a blues record label named King Snake and also had a blues quartet named BLUE HOUSE. Our chance meeting at one of my shows was the beginning of a long and wonderful friendship. We bonded over our love of blues music and all the original American artists that established that style. Dave shared with me many stories of searching for hard-to-find blues records, particularly in his young years in London and his early days of gigging at clubs on the famous street Electric Avenue. So, when we decided to do a tribute song to our friend Dave, we decided to write about those early days and how exciting they were when FOGHAT was just beginning. Scott and Roger came up with the lyrics and the core of the song, and Rodney and I added our finishing touches. We were very happy with the results and are pleased to release this on 7” 45rpm red vinyl on Record Store Day.

“‘On Tonsils And Sneakers’ – that was Dave’s unique way of introducing himself from the stage – is backed with ‘Black Days And Blue Nights’ from our last studio album, a song that we wrote in honor of FOGHAT’s original guitarist Rod Price. So please pick up our single. I think it’ll be a collector’s item for our fans, and it is a tribute to two original founding members of the band, old friends that we miss very much.”
