When it comes to anniversary editions of classic records, a lot of artists miss the actual years, although some get their labels to align reissues with calendars, yet FOREIGNER decided not to wait for 2026 to celebrate the 45th spin around the sun of the album that turned this international ensemble from a band who tried to marry progressive tendencies and commercial sound into an arena-packing group. The impatience is understandable: including such songs as “Juke Box Hero” and “Waiting For A Girl Like You” which would become huge hits and resonate over decades, 1981’s “4” will be the collective’s first release in a deluxe form.
Scheduled for September 12th, the four-CD and Blu-ray box set of “4” – the title pointing to both the platter’s number in the team’s discography and the combo’s dwindling down to a quartet of Lou Gramm, Mick Jones, Rick Wills and Dennis Elliott – comes comprising not only fresh stereo and ATMOS remixes of classic material (but there’s no original mix in sight), but also a plethora of previously unheard studio tracks, among them alternative versions and songs which didn’t make the cut, as well as concert recordings. A must-have item – something that can’t be said of "All Engines On: Live In London" whose street date of September 19th seems quite strange in the light of this news.
