Harald Grosskopf‘s name may not be familiar to wider circles of Krautrock aficionados, yet the genre connoisseurs should recall his stints if not with SCORPIONS, in which the German artist helped out his kindergarten pal Rudolf Schenker, then with WALLENSTEIN and ASH RA TEMPEL and ASHRA as well as with Klaus Schulze. Only it was not as drummer but as electronica maven that Harald moved to the fore of public consciousness when he recorded a solo album titled “Synthesist” in 1980 and followed his individual debut with a few more platters, the last being 2016’s “Naherholung” – which is about to become the veteran’s penultimate opus.
This will happen on October 18th when Grosskopf’s “Strom” picks up where his earlier oeuvre left off and offers the listener prog-charged atmosphere to get submerged in and enjoy. Electrifying, indeed.
