Jackie Lomax’s Rarities To Be Released

In a more just world, Jackie Lomax could have been really big but, perhaps, being in possession of a fantastic pair of soul pipes he lacked a bit of artistic personality, and success evaded him. Despite the support from fellow Liverpudlians, THE BEATLES, who signed the singer to their Apple Corps. and had George Harrison behind his “Sour Milk Sea” single, and Jackie’s poster boys looks, Lomax didn’t make it to the top, yet since his passing in 2013 there’s been a reassessment of the veteran’s legacy. His estate’s collaboration with Angel Air Records resulted in the release of "Against All Odds", the album the veteran finished shortly before moving on to the next world, and the tapes from HEAVY JELLY, a project he fronted for some time, and now a genuine treasure trove to be opened on May 4th when “Rare, Unreleased And Live, 1965-2012” will be out.

It’s a collection of the late singer’s gems from his time with the Scouse also-rans THE UNDERTAKERS up to the songs he worked on in the last year of his life, with the pride of place given to Jackie’s American concert from 1976. A real treat. Read the review.
