With their leader never far away from this or that project, it’s difficult to believe that, to date, JOHN HACKETT BAND issued but a single full-length offering and that almost eight years have passed since "We Are Not Alone" saw the light of day. Since then, the English flautist released a couple of records with his ensemble’s guitarist Nick Fletcher and a solo album, yet given the group carried on performing, one could safely assume it was just a matter of time before their sophomore platter arrived.
And eventually, the collection of tunes titled “Red Institution” got a street date: April 11th. With singing bassist Jeremy Richardson and drummer Duncan Parsons taking care of the bottom end, the band – who added a KING CRIMSON cover to their own “Red” – couldn’t find a better way to celebrate the first decade of their existence.
