RENAISSANCE Release Report Of Farewell Tour

After decades of enchanting fans, RENAISSANCE bade goodbye to their fans at the end of 2024, and even though the ensemble unexpectedly returned to the stage last year, when Annie Haslam and Jim McCarty faced the audience with spellbinding talk and musical performances – one of of those appearances was filmed and will be released, accompanied with audio discs, this summer, – it’s officially over. Of course, given that the veterans’ endeavors during the last road treks used to be documented, there’s no surprise in the upcoming release of the “In Gratitude: Farewell Tour” set, which preserves for posterity, on two CDs, their show in Collingswood, New Jersey, from October 26th, 2024.

Donovan Digitally Unveiled His Lost Album

The ’80s weren’t too kind to Donovan Leitch, and he retired from studio projects after “Lady Of The Stars” was out in 1984. It would take the veteran another twelve years to come up with “Sutras” – the the Rick Rubin-produced album that demonstrated public respect for the singer-songwriter, even though the platter didn’t find any commercial success – but 1990 saw the artist try and get back on track with a record which PolyGram passed up on and which his manager attempted to release as a bootleg. Titled “One Night In Time” and originally issued on cassette to accompany a fanzine, that artifact has seen the light of day now, as part of the great Scot’s celebration of his six decades in the business.

CLEARLIGHT’s Classic Recordings Get Anthologized

France is not very famous for its progressive rock, the country’s most prominent offerings on this front being MAGMA and Gallic contingent of GONG – yet one must not forget about Cyrille Verdeaux’s CLEARLIGHT whose recordings featured the members of the latter ensemble as well as David Cross, fresh out of KING CRIMSON fold. First, Verdeaux’s ivories-based albums were created in the company of friends, and then he proceeded to a full band, but after a few platters issued in the ’70s, the project fizzled out only to get reformed in the ’90s and deliver sporadic longplays afterwards, created by Cyrille on his own and with SPIRITS BURNING. It’s about time, then, to remember those forgotten gems.

Terry Sullivan Of RENAISSANCE Passed Away

The great Terry Sullivan, most famous for his drumming with RENAISSANCE died yesterday after a short illness – an immense loss for everyone who knew him. Terry wasn’t a mere drummer – he played an acoustic guitar, too, and he co-wrote the wondrous “Forever Changing” for the ensemble – Sullivan has a huge, warm presence on the scene and beyond.

GONG Gear Up For Finishing Their Latest Trilogy

No strangers to creating sonic triptychs – there was the “Radio Gnome Invisible” hattrick started with “Flying Teapot” and continued with “Angel’s Egg” and “You” back in the ’70s – GONG have been on another conceptual curve in recent years, and now the ensemble are ready to bring their latest tripartite suite to a close. What began in 2019 with “The Universe Also Collapses” and carried forward by “Unending Ascending” in 2023 is going to be wrapped up on March 13th, when “Bright Spirit” will see the light of day.
